Austen Quiz

I just love Jane Austen!
Always before has Pride and Prejudice been my favorite book
now though I am leaning more and more toward Persuasion.
Its simple, sweet and gentle.

Rain

Today it rain. We have had massive flooding in my area and the rain keeps coming.
Some people have lost homes, yards and much much more.
Still the rain keeps coming.

Don't get me wrong I love rain.
I have even written poems about rain
but really this is June in Utah.
It's time for the sun to come out and play for a little while.

Rain

The pitter patter
the soft thrumming sound.
The way the air smells
whenever you come around.

The way it cleans
the things that grow
Water falling
is beautiful I know.

So this is today's poem, and I am now done with rain for a while. I would like the flooding to stop. I have a lot of things on my list to do - most of which are outside.
I really need to tackle the jungle growing in front of my home. I have pulled, plucked, poisoned and trampled but the rain keeps them growing. I am growing very very frustrated with this. I want a chance to plant my flowers, to grow the things that I want grown.
AHHHHH!

Funnies - Arrested for what?

I’m Under Arrest for What? Fifty Bizarre U.S. Laws
By: Annie Tucker Morgan

I’ve never claimed to have extensive knowledge of U.S. legislation throughout history, but it’s safe to say that I and most people I associate with are law-abiding citizens … or not. As it turns out, every state in this country has at least one wacky legal stipulation that could land residents in hot water if they don’t comply. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Alabama
It’s illegal to wear a fake mustache that causes laughter in church.

Alaska
Whispering in someone’s ear while he’s moose hunting is prohibited.

Arizona
Cutting down a cactus may earn you a twenty-five-year prison term. (Having lived in Arizona for a little while I know that this is not an unknown law nor is it silly. This protects one type of Cacti, one of the longest growing plants in Arizona.)

Arkansas
It’s illegal to mispronounce the name of the state of Arkansas.

California
You may not eat an orange in your bathtub.

Colorado
It’s unlawful to lend your vacuum cleaner to your next-door neighbor (Denver).

Connecticut
A pickle cannot actually be a pickle unless it bounces.

Delaware
It’s illegal to get married on a dare.

Washington, D.C.
It’s against the law to post a public notice calling someone a coward for refusing to accept a challenge to duel.

Florida
If you tie an elephant to a parking meter, you must pay the same parking fee as you would for a vehicle.

Georgia
It’s illegal to change the clothes on a storefront mannequin unless you draw the shades first.

Hawaii
All residents may be fined for not owning a boat.

Idaho
A man must not give his sweetheart a box of candy weighing fewer than fifty pounds.

Illinois
It’s illegal to take a French poodle to the opera (Chicago).

Indiana
The value of pi is 4, and not 3.1415.

Iowa
One-armed piano players must perform for free.

Kansas
It’s illegal to throw knives at men wearing striped suits (Natoma).

Kentucky
Every citizen is required to take a shower once a year.

Louisiana
Biting someone with your natural teeth constitutes simple assault, but biting someone with your false teeth classifies as aggravated assault.

Maine
If you keep your Christmas decorations on display after January 14, you’ll be fined.

Maryland
It’s against the law to wash or scrub a sink, no matter how dirty it is (Baltimore).

Massachusetts
No gorilla is allowed in the backseat of any car.

Michigan
A woman may not cut her own hair without her husband’s permission.

Minnesota
It’s illegal to paint a sparrow with the intent of selling it as a parakeet (Harper Woods).

Mississippi
Walking a dog without dressing it in diapers is forbidden (Temperance).

Missouri
Children may buy shotguns in Kansas City, but not toy cap guns.

Montana
It’s a felony for a wife to open her husband’s mail.

Nebraska
Bar owners may not sell beer unless they brew a kettle of soup simultaneously.

Nevada
It’s illegal for men with mustaches to kiss women.

New Hampshire
It’s forbidden to sell the clothes you’re wearing to pay off a gambling debt.

New Jersey
It’s against the law for a man to knit during the fishing season.

New Mexico
Females may not appear unshaven in public.

New York
While riding in an elevator, you must talk to no one, fold your hands, and look toward the door.

North Carolina
It’s against the law to sing off-key.

North Dakota
It’s illegal to lie down and fall asleep with your shoes on.

Ohio
You must honk the horn whenever you pass another car, according to the state’s driver’s education manual.

Oklahoma
It’s forbidden to take a bite out of another person’s hamburger.

Oregon
State law requires dishes to be drip-dried.

Pennsylvania
It’s illegal to sleep on top of a refrigerator outdoors.

Rhode Island
You may not bite off another person’s leg.

South Carolina
If a man promises to marry an unmarried woman, he is required by law to keep his promise.

South Dakota
It is illegal to lie down and fall asleep in a cheese factory.

Tennessee
Selling hollow logs is strictly forbidden.

Texas
You may not shoot a buffalo from the second story of a hotel.

Utah
It is illegal not to drink milk. (This is my state and I am a little worried about lactose intolerant people...)

Vermont
Women must obtain written permission from their husbands to wear false teeth.

Virginia
Tickling a woman is unlawful.

Washington
It’s illegal to pretend that one’s parents are wealthy.

West Virginia
If you make fun of someone who does not accept a challenge, you risk a six-month prison sentence.

Wisconsin
Unless a customer specifically requests it, margarine may not be substituted for butter in a restaurant.

Wyoming
Unless you have an official permit, you may not take a picture of a rabbit from January to April.

This Court Is Adjourned
Whew! With all this legislation, it’s a wonder we’re not all sharing a prison cell right now. Granted, something tells me the Los Angeles Police Department has bigger fish to fry than popping people who dare to eat oranges while bathing, and that most people who saw me catching some shut-eye on top of a fridge in Pennsylvania wouldn’t call the cops on me, but you never know when you might come across that rare whistle-blower who wants you persecuted to the fullest extent of the law, so it’s probably better to be safe than sorry. The next time I tie up my elephant at a parking meter in Florida, I’ll be sure to bring a pocket full of quarters.

Love it! Didn't that just make your day? How many laws are you going to go out and break? Her article is in black, my add in's are in red and of course all the photos are mine. I think they added something to the article, don't you?

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod
by Eugene Field

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe---
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
Into a sea of dew.
"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
The old moon asked the three.
"We have come to fish for the herring fish
That live in this beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!"
Said Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

The old moon laughed and sang a song,
As they rocked in the wooden shoe,
And the wind that sped them all night long
Ruffled the waves of dew.
The little stars were the herring fish
That lived in that beautiful sea---
"Now cast your nets wherever you wish---
Never afeard are we";
So cried the stars to the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

All night long their nets they threw
To the stars in the twinkling foam---
Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe,
Bringing the fishermen home;
'T was all so pretty a sail it seemed
As if it could not be,
And some folks thought 't was a dream they 'd dreamed
Of sailing that beautiful sea---
But I shall name you the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

Wynken and Blynken are two little eyes,
And Nod is a little head,
And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies
Is a wee one's trundle-bed.
So shut your eyes while mother sings
Of wonderful sights that be,
And you shall see the beautiful things
As you rock in the misty sea,
Where the old shoe rocked the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

Absolutely one of my favorite poems ever! The pictures are of Little man as he slept last night. Is there anyway that can be any cuter?
I may post my bathroom project later today if I can manage to get my hubby to finish helping me.

Diet

So after trying medifast and staying true to the program I lost a whole 11 pds.
Worth 360.00 a month?
Not really
Hubby has lost 67 pds on medifast so we will continue to buy it for him.

We think the problem is that while the medifast meals are 110 calories and low fat they have anywhere from
200 sodium to 460 sodium per meal.
This is to high for my body.
I need about half the daily intake more than that and I gain water weight and then start to have health issues.

Which is why I have switched from medifast to the 100 calorie snack packs on average they have less salt.
Not to mention taste better and have 10 calories less per meal.

I am still following the medifast plan five snacks a day three hours apart with a lean and green meal for dinner.
I have substituted the snack packs as well as yogurt shakes, low fat string cheese am and now using the
Alli pill with my lean and green meal at night.
I will of course take my multivitamin to make sure I am not losing vitamins.

So I am down 13 pds since I started
I am still under 200 pds
not by much but below is still better than above.
I am also still losing and still working on getting thiner.

Will keep you updated
