Here's Your Sign

Really some moments in my life have made me wonder how some of the human race has managed to survive on that level of stupid.
My cousin Heather, who's second son just under went heart surgery has been having a plethora of them lately. Mostly from well meaning mothers and co-workers. People saying things like, "At least your able get some sleep." Referring to the fact that at two weeks old he is still in the hospital.

Rewards and Barbies

Most parents want the best for their child. The most for their child. For their child to be amazing - somehow in someway.
Each parent/child relationship is different and built on different wishes.
Some want smart children, others well dressed and well styled, nice, sweet, obedient, calm, street smart, open, talented... this list I am sure never really ends, it just changes as they grow older.

Parks and Packages

BFF's Lil sis, Little Man, BFF, & Savy his Kinder Crush
Moving into a new city is never easy. Meeting new people in said city is also not easy. You have your neighbors, church, school & social gathering places (gym, activities, dining ect).
So far the best place that I have made friends at is my son's Kindergarten class.
We - the bored - chat.
Or at least the anti social of us do.
The rest stand there and watch the social ones chat.
At the beginning of the year two moms started an every Thursday play-date at the park, next to the school. Only 5 mothers so far have ever come, due to bad weather they stopped for a long time) today 3 of us met up, chatted, let the kids play and had a ball!
2 hrs of mama time, 2 hrs of kids running, playing, and being with their friends. Win Win.

Rambling Babble & Babies

This is our new Target, it will be open in July and I am so happy! I won't have to drive so stinkin' far to shop at Target!

These are the west mountains - I live at the base of the tip of these mountains.
Right now this whole mountain range belongs to Kennecott Copper Mine (we might one day have a ski resort on them!)
This is being called the "West Bench" which I find hysterical! What a classy way to say Magna. Dirt cheap really old homes or brand new housing developments with all the same structure and colors.

In bitter sweet news my fabulous cousin Heather's new baby will be having heart surgery on Wednesday - he was born with a Congenital Heart Defect, thankfully modern medicine & research have made this something that can be fixed!
Visit her blog, The Sweet Geek's Blog, if you are interested in following their story.
Sweet part is that he is just so adorable! Bitter part - surgery and how long it will be until he gets to go home (around 2 weeks).
On the upside already he is a cuddler! He loves to be held by his mama!

Allergies and Me

A few months ago I mentioned that I was thinking of buying one of these as I have a hard time wanting to wear a medical bracelet.
Two months ago I got the silver one in the mail.
Now despite the photo above they are plastic - not very sturdy but still well made.
I love mine!

Home Maker Skills List

Over the years as a stay at home mother I have found several different sites that will add up the hours of whatever chores you do on a day to day basis and will tell you, your "At Home Worth".

I have had several friends that actually prefer to work and have their kids in daycare because they couldn't handle the "At Home" world.

Let me break it down for you - its hard. Its monotonous. Its as un-glorious as a dirty toilet bowl. It has few perks. There are no sick days or days off. Long night shifts. You get to be teacher, cook, nurse, housemaid & gardener. You get all the blame if something goes wrong and no praise when it doesn't. This list can go on almost indefinitely.
Even worse though is the lack of respect the position grants you.
Some one asks, "What do you do?"
You answer, "Stay at home mom/dad."
Their eyes glaze over/roll their eyes/ or immediately get that O your one of them looks.

Scrap Quilting

Quilting is one of the most versatile things in the world - there is a style out there for everyone!

Mine however, does break many rules. Most quilts you attach all three layers together with some form of pattern or stitching.
The front is going to be a compilation of needle point & my children's clothes - the ones that are beyond reusing or handing down.

Glasses

I know many people may not understand my excitement but really I love my new prescription transition glasses!
I've had glasses for the last 10 years, I only need them to see far away.
Normally night driving, theater watching, storms, rain ect. are the times I HAVE to wear them.
However over time I like wearing them while I drive - I can see better, clearer, & actually read street signs in enough time to turn!

Rites of passage and boys

I don't know if its just a boy thing, an initiation rite or a rite of passage, but some how some things that my boy does seems almost movie script perfect.
Today for the first time in his young life he broke a window.
With a snow ball.
